Love List May 2011

According to wellness warrior Kris Carr from Crazy Sexy Life, a Love List is: "...a reminder of glass half-full/brimming over living and lusciousness. Love Lists tap you on the shoulder when you get lost or slip into darkness. Because life is too sweet to be bitter and sometimes you need the universe to whisper in your ear, 'Hey, there’s lots of beauty and majesty out there, lots of things you adore, so why the sourpuss?'

You can write a Love List any time. You can write one on a receipt, a napkin, or in your journal. I usually keep my Love List short and oh so sugary sweet. Ten is my favorite number so I write ten things I love. They don’t have to be serious; they can be fun and whimsical. Your Love List can be full of 'stuff' or full of feelings."

Without further ado, here is mine with an extra three:
  1. The thrill of walking to my mailbox and opening it to find a letter from a loved-one.
  2. B&W Hollywood movies, the sound of rain on a window-pane and hot tea warming my chilly hands.  It's either a good movie or a good book.
  3. I love baking vegan cookies and muddy buddies/puppy chow/tummy yummies to share with people and then snuggling up to a good movie.
  4. Bollywood.
  5. I still enjoy watching animated children's movies.
  6. Anything vintage 1940's on. Classic Hollywood. Audrey Hepburn. James Stewart. Frank Capra. Jazz. Swing. Dick Van Dyke. Drive-in movies. Vinyl records (badly desire a record player)...
  7. Flowers: Chrysanthemums (you can't deny it, that's just fun to say) and daisies (what a happy flower!!)
  8. Colors: deep purple, lilac, maroon, the green color of mint chocolate chip ice cream... I just love colors!
  9. Animals: not that I like to single out any one animal, but I have to say Dogs, majestic Deers, Asian Elephants (the entire herd raises a baby), Zebras (The stripe pattern of a zebra is as unique as a fingerprint), Okapis (from Uganda/ Congo, related to Giraffes, sold for bushmeat :( Bushmeat.org), Giraffes (if they eat maroela berries they can become intoxicated! and possibly break a leg :(... They're pretty awesome blossom!
  10. I love, love, love toast, Blueberries, Blackberries, Samosas, Indian food, Hummus, and Spanakopita (Greek spinach pastry).
  11. The smell of fresh hay, fresh autumn leaves, evergreen trees...
  12. Traveling to new corners of the world to discover new cultures.  The world gets smaller with each journey.
  13. Family traditions: the smell of a fresh Christmas pine, hikes at the lake, raking the autumn leaves, yearly trips to the nearby national state park, annual story-telling at the Thanksgiving table...
